Yes, it is pumpkin spice season, and as you sip your iced coffee on a slightly warmer day or wrap your hands around the warmth of hot pumpkin spiced latte topped with plenty of whipped cream, the possibility that today is going to be the best day is highly likely! Don’t pass up a piece of their homemade banana bread, or if you really want to treat yourself, their homemade carrot cake is a fall favorite. (Ok, it’s a favorite ANY time of the year!)

Offering the most unique pancakes in town, your favorite fall flavor may just be their sweet potato cakes made with cinnamon sweet potato batter. But don’t feel you are obligated to stick to fall flavors; their Elvis pancakes will change your life and are created from chocolate chip pancakes topped with sliced bananas, peanut butter drizzle, and bacon!

Their menu is an international delight, offering everything from schnitzel to pierogi to pasta, and if we were forced to name our favorite fall flavor, it would have to be their Shire Roasted Duck & Dumplings, even though we aren’t really sure that duck is considered a fall food. It really should be if it’s not, especially as the braised cabbage and potato dumplings are certainly fall treats! Chocolate rum mousse cake is our favorite way to end any meal at The Hobbit. This is a seasonal spot, and they close for the season sometime in October, usually towards the end of the month.
The Vault, Flamingo Coast, 3 Atlantic Avenue
In the summer months we may hang out at beachfront bars, sipping margaritas and singing along to the music that is playing, but in the fall we find ourselves looking for quiet lounges hidden away from the world, often offering a speakeasy theme. The Vault, located within the Flamingo Coast entertainment complex on the boardwalk, satisfies our need for dark and mysterious. A password is required, but it is easy to find; just go to their website and it will be revealed. The drinks all have autobiographical novels describing them and include fantastic names like ‘Box #13, Smoke and Mirrors Manhattan,’ or ‘Withdrawal Slip No. 777, Dealer has Blackjack,’ making your night of cocktails and mystery even more exciting!
